Book Club Tuesday: Ottolenghi Simple

Let’s start with something fun — word association! If I say “Ottolenghi” to you what might you say? The word “elegant” may come to mind or “extra” might pop into your head. Most assuredly “ingredients” would be one that most would think of. Yotam Ottolenghi is a person who has changed the way people view food. Difficult to categorize, his style works on the premise that food is all about flavour and unorthodox combinations (prior to receiving Ottolenghi Simple I had made one of his recipes from Continue reading “Book Club Tuesday: Ottolenghi Simple”

Book Club Tuesday: Cravings: Hungry for More

For being completely into cookbooks I’ve never really been too interested in celebrity cookbooks. I think I was always under the impression that these cookbooks leaned more into the celebrity and their celebrity lives with the food being a secondary concern. So I think I surprised myself and those around me when I hardcore fell for Continue reading “Book Club Tuesday: Cravings: Hungry for More”

Book Club Tuesday: Now & Again

There are just some people in life that make you want to be a better person — and not through any kind of cajoling, guilt, or other tactics. They lead by example and advocate. You see, at the farmhouse where they lived, the door everyone used was just off the kitchen and when they built the “new” farmhouse back in the 1950s the kitchen was built to be the biggest room. While the actual prep-and-cook area of the kitchen was relatively small the custom turquoise (later recovered to a different colour) Naugahyde “L”-shaped banquette Continue reading “Book Club Tuesday: The Kitchen Party Cookbook”

Book Club Tuesday: Pretty Simple Cooking

A couple weeks ago I got into a conversation with another blogger about the internet and cooking. What he told me really shattered my optimism: people who cook are cooking more and more often but those who can’t cook aren’t even starting. I always hoped/thought that more and more people were joining the ranks of home cooks (the Insta food world certainly gives this impression) but after some quick googling it seems that he is correct (this article from the Washington Post I think sums it up). So if less people Continue reading “Book Club Tuesday: Pretty Simple Cooking”
